So I DJ'ed Timbaland's Release party last week here in h-wood along with one of the more recognized dj's out there, Clinton Sparks (clintonsparks.com) and also the one and only Gomez Warren who let his girlfriend spin in the front room cuz no one in LA cares about who the DJ is. btw, we arent on the flyer cuz we are "nobodies" if your curious.

Its funny how DIFFERENT Dj's from the west coast and the east coast are. I figure that must be how people thought in the 80s/early 90s when they had that whole East Coast Rap vs West Coast rap feuds...you had artists like BDP, BigDaddy Kane, Biggie, Mc Shan, Nas and then you had like the gangsta-party club shit from the west like 2Pac, Dre, Egyptian Lover, Sir Mix A Lot, shit even Vanilla Ice had it crackin at one point. My point issss, when I spin I try and make everything be as fluid as possible and try to blend, scratch a bit, and I rarely crash-mix unless to throw in some suprises (not too often mind you). I rarely use the microphone bcuz who wants to hear a 19yearold white kid saying "Laaaaadddiiiiies....Fellllaaaaaassss"?

So when Clinton got on, he immediately picked up the mic and started rockin it obviously playin all the smashes, one after the other, however when he wanted to change records he would just grab the mic and yell something like "its time to get fucked up, lets go" and then drop like In Da Club or if he wanted something a lil more Hollywood maybe Journey or Rick Springfield. Not going to lie, I was drunk at the club ( i snuck a bottle of alize into my laptop bag lol) but I couldnt remember one time he actually mixed a record at the club. Only real negative thing about the mic was that at times in the middle of his set, the mic eventually went to a complete LOUD-AS-SHIT white noise fuzzz sound like the sound that the TV makes when you are on a channel that doesnt have any programming on it. I was at the bar taking shots with my buddy when I heard this and since he was a guest DJ from out of town that night, I figured it was my responsibility of helping him out and I ran back to the booth but if yall know how Privilege in Hollywood is layed out, its like a labyrinth with mirrors and I ran into two mirror walls twice!! almost broke my fucking head open trying to get to the dj booth. Finally I get there and help fix it but everybody was trying to leave the dancefloor by then which really sucked for Clinton cuz he was just doing his thing and some bad stuff that isnt his fault happened...whatever

Im working on recording my set next week from Privilege so hopefully there should be a new live mix up soon!
